What Is Dermal Filler?

Dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvéderm are FDA-approved injectables used to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial features. Whether you want to plump your lips, lift your cheeks, or soften deep lines, fillers offer natural-looking results that refresh your appearance—without changing who you are.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

As we age, we lose collagen, elasticity, and hydration in our skin. Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in the body—to attract moisture and add volume back where it’s needed. This helps smooth wrinkles, lift sagging skin, and contour your features. Results are immediate and typically last 6 to 18 months, depending on the area and product used.

What Areas Can Dermal Filler Treat?

  • Lips (for volume and definition)

  • Cheeks (to restore lift and fullness)

  • Smile lines (nasolabial folds)

  • Marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth downward)

  • Under-eye hollows (tear troughs)

  • Chin and jawline (for sculpting and balance)

  • Hands (to restore youthful volume)

  • Botox relaxes muscles to smooth dynamic wrinkles (caused by movement), while dermal fillers add volume to smooth static wrinkles, enhance features, and restore lost fullness.

  • Most fillers last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the area treated, the product used, and your body’s metabolism.

  • Most people describe the feeling as a quick pinch or pressure. Many fillers are formulated with lidocaine (a numbing agent), and we also apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable.

  • Not when done by an experienced injector. Our goal is natural, subtle enhancement that helps you look refreshed—not different.

  • There’s little to no downtime. You may have mild swelling or bruising for a few days, but most people return to normal activities right after treatment.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive sun or heat for 24 hours. Don’t massage the area unless instructed, and sleep with your head elevated the first night.

  • Yes! If you’re ever unhappy or have a reaction, hyaluronic acid fillers (like Restylane and Juvéderm) can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
