What Is BBL (BroadBand Light)?

BBL is an advanced light therapy treatment that targets pigmentation, redness, and signs of aging to reveal clearer, brighter, and more even-toned skin. It works by delivering broad-spectrum light energy to the skin, which gently heats and breaks down unwanted pigment and stimulates collagen production for long-term rejuvenation.

How Does BBL Work?

During your treatment, pulses of light penetrate the skin to target melanin (pigment), blood vessels, and other skin imperfections. This process encourages your skin to shed damaged cells and generate fresh, healthy ones. BBL can address sunspots, rosacea, freckles, redness, and uneven tone—all while promoting collagen for smoother, firmer skin.

  • 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for pigmentation and redness.  BBL Clear for acne involves 6 treatments, each spaced 2 weeks apart.

  • Most clients experience a mild snapping or warm sensation during treatment. The procedure is generally well tolerated, and cooling is used throughout to keep you comfortable.

  • There is little to no downtime. You may notice mild redness and slight darkening of pigmented spots, which typically fade and peel over 3–7 days.

  • Improvements in skin tone and clarity are usually visible within 1–2 weeks. Collagen remodeling and continued skin rejuvenation happen over the following months.

  • We do not recommend BBL for treating melasma, as the heat and light can sometimes worsen this condition or cause flare-ups. Instead, we typically recommend MOXI, a gentler laser treatment that improves pigmentation and evens skin tone with minimal risk of aggravating melasma. MOXI provides a safer, effective option for managing melasma and achieving a brighter, more balanced complexion.

  • Yes! Your provider may recommend “stacking” BBL with a laser like MOXI or CoolPeel for even more improvement of pigmentation and texture.

  • BBL is an effective treatment for pigmentation and redness anywhere on the body.  Face, neck and chest treatments are often performed together to even the skin’s tone from the decollete up.  Treating hands, arms, legs, and back are also popular choices.
